Savage Hard Seltzer

A badass beverage company selling hard seltzer with a savage kick. Savage Seltzer is colourful, brazen and here for a good time. They currently offer three distinctive flavour options: Lychee & Rose, Mango & Lime and Blood Orange & Vanilla.
Local to Vancouver, the brand is new to the market and needed a consistent brand identity and packaging design developed for three flavours of seltzer in two different packaging types. Savage needed to be visually unique from other hard seltzers, while still feeling at home in the Vancouver liquor market.
The Concept: To honour the unique flavour profiles of the brand, we chose a creative direction that was bold, playful, and a little bit funky. Dynamic illustrations representing each flavour serve as the main graphic device, while the vintage-inspired badge and stars provide a fun attitude throughout the brand.
The logo is a wordmark with custom ligatures on some letters and tight kerning. The font feels retro, nostalgic and badass. It matches the hand drawn illustrations and funky colours. The flared sans serif, Gitan, was chosen as a secondary font because it appears friendly and slightly informal while still remaining highly legible. The spur shaped badge is carried into the logo as a definitive period. We carefully selected a colour palette that complimented the retro tone of the font while highlighting the boldness of the brand and matching the flavour profiles of the seltzers.
Since Savage was releasing their seltzers in both a can and a glass bottle, the packaging needed to be adaptable to each format. Despite the bold fonts and retro elements, the packaging design itself is clean and minimal. Sure to grab the attention of passing consumers, this brand is ready for a good time.
The ads for Savage Seltzer have the slogan “Unleash Your Inner Savage” which describes the mood of the brand while also evoking the experience one would have drinking the hard seltzer. The social media feed features a desert motif which compliments the other elements of the brand while also making it recognizable in the saturated alcohol market.
